Rising 373 meters at 200 Greenwich Street in Lower Manhattan, Two World Trade Center is the final commercial tower of the World Trade Center master plan and the future global headquarters of American Express. Foster + Partners' updated design — released in February 2026 — presents a stepped composition of slender volumes rising from a rectilinear base, articulated by a sequence of landscaped terraces and green roofs that distribute more than an acre of outdoor space throughout the building. The 55-story, ~186,000-square-meter tower will accommodate up to 10,000 employees and is positioned directly across from Calatrava's Oculus and the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Planned as a fully electric building with advanced smart-building systems pursuing LEED certification, the project draws on BIG's stacked-block concept and Foster's earlier crown studies, merging into a hybrid composition. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with completion targeted for 2031.
